The Automotive Electrical Wiring Harness Design Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of electrical wiring harness systems for automotive applications including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, Armoured and refrigerated vehicles.
The role is to oversees engineering teams, coordinates cross-functional activities, ensures compliance with customer and automotive standards, and supports new product development from concept through mass production.
Lead complete wiring harness design & development for different application & customers, prepare 2d & 3D harness layout, Optimize harness weight, Cost & manufacturability.
Perform Current & Voltage drop calculation, Wire gauge selection, Fuse & Relay Sizing, grounding strategy.
Define harness routing path ensuring heat & water protection, vibration resistance, EMI/EMC compliance & serviceability.
Select and approve Connector, terminal, seals, clips, grommet, fuse box, junction box, protective sleeves and other Accessories.
Plan & supervise Prototype build, design verification, validation, performance test & Safety test.
Support Manufacturing by DFM, process Improvement, Work Instruction, Line Balancing, Production trials, proto & SOP built
Support on evaluation & finalization of new supplier, Sourcing Strategy. Conduct Technical supplier Audit, Approve the PPAP documents.
Support in Expansion of existing facility in terms of procurement of new Machine and tools for manufacturing & Testing.
Facilitate global certification of manufacturing process.
Candidate must possess the below skills
Automotive wiring harness design, Electrical Schematic, Harness Routing, connector sizing, power distribution, Signal Integrity & EMI/EMC.
Working knowledge with CAD Software like AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk cable & harness / Solid Edge Electrical / Zucken E3 / Siemens Capital X.
Should have familiarity with all the standards associated with Wires, cable, Sleeves, connectors, Terminal, FR rating
Knowledge of ISO:16750, ISO0:26262, IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO:9001. IATF-16949 is an added advantage
Six sigma certification will be an added advantage.
Qualification – B.E/B.Tech in Electrical Engineer
Experience – Must have minimum 8-10 years of Automotive wiring harness design Experience.
